Too Late (FREE sneak peek + live set with John Hawkes!)

Too Late opens at the Sundance Cinemas on March 18th!

After the film John Hawkes will play a short live set!

Genuinely ambitious, with cinephilia deep in its DNA, Too Late is a Los Angeles film in five acts, shot on 35mm Techniscope, and made up of impressive reel-length Altman-esque long takes. In spite of its classic detective film genre trappings—a PI is tasked with tracking down a missing woman—Too Late experiments with genre and form, featuring both performances and an aesthetically conscious approach that seem to hail from another era. Writer and director Dennis Hauck roves the southern Californian landscape—from the desolate, overgrown Radio Hill to the ritzy penthouse of The Beverly Hilton—with style that, despite its badge-carrying cineaste referentially, pulses with the energy of a filmmaker out to coin his own pulp idiom. John Hawkes—everyone’s favorite leading man hiding in the skin of a character actor—drives the film, with magnetism that shapes what could have been a filmic exercise into a something rife with emotional truth and weight.

Dir. Dennis Hauck, 2015, 35mm, 107 min.
