Home of the Brave in 35mm (w/ Laurie Anderson in person!)

On the occasion of the release of Laurie Anderson’s new film, Heart of a Dog (opening 11/6 at the Nuart), we have invited her to present a newly-surfaced 35mm print of her celebrated 1986 concert film, Home of the Brave, with a Q&A! Anderson, who began her career working in sculpture and performance art, “has gone on to create large-scale theatrical works which combine a variety of media—music, video, storytelling, projected imagery, sculpture—in which she is an electrifying performer” (ART21). Home of the Brave is a star-studded example of Anderson’s collaborative and genre-bending artistry, with appearances by guitarist Adrian Belew, keyboardist Joy Askew, and author William S. Burroughs, famously seen dancing a slow-tango with Anderson.

Dir. Laurie Anderson, 1986, 35mm, 90 min.
