First up, Greg Proops (one of the most mind-warpingly quick-draw improv comics on earth) records the latest episode of his monthly Film Club podcast live — and then it’s time for Peter Bogdanovich’s perennially awesome screwball comedy What’s Up, Doc? Greg sez: “Forget your Xmas worries and get screwball with this frantic homage to both Bringing Up Baby and Bugs Bunny. Four identical plaid bags get mislaid (plaid bags, dude, this is the ‘70s), two of them belonging to Ryan O’Neal as a scientist and Barbra Streisand as a serial college drop-out genius. Car chases, mistaken identity, fake accents, felonious room service ordering — all with a San Francisco backdrop, pre-Google. I hesitate to call it ‘zany’, but this picture is chock full of hijinx. Pacey and cute, with the hysterical Madeline Kahn debuting as O’Neal’s square fiancee. Join me for mad holiday cheer; re-live when Ryan and Barbra were delightful, and The Poseidon Adventure ruled. Grab a caramel-colored leather jacket and truck on down.”
Dir. Peter Bogdanovich, 1972, 35mm, 94 min.

Q: Does Greg talk over the movies, like the Benson Interruption?
A: No. It is a recording of his podcast, followed by a screening of the film.
