Greg Proops (one of the most mind-warpingly quick-draw improv comics on earth) records his monthly Film Club podcast live — and then it’s time for and then it’s time for a most whimsical Forties fantasy romance. Greg sez: “Long-haired vixen Veronica Lake is burned at the stake for being a Witch in colonial Salem. She puts a curse on her accuser, the staunch bummer Puritan Jonathan Wooley (Fredric March), forever making his male descendants marrying the wrong woman — until lightning hits the tree she and her alcoholic Warlock Dad are buried under. After that, the witches are free to make the curse happen in person. Directed by French master Rene Clair, this delightfully sexy romp was ripped off for the Bewitched TV show. Difference is, this movie is hilarious and filled with surprises. This Halloween, let’s laugh instead of wallowing in pain. Save that for when you get back in your car to drive home through Hollywood.”
Dir. Rene Clair, 1942, digital presentation, 77 min.

Q: Does Greg talk over the movies, like the Benson Interruption?
A: No. It is a recording of his podcast, followed by a screening of the film.
