Greg Proops (one of the most mind-warpingly quick-draw improv comics on earth) records his monthly Film Club podcast live — and then it’s time for and then it’s time for Pam Grier’s greatest role until Jackie Brown. Greg sez: “The baddest one-chick hit-squad to ever hit town! This picture has it all: sex, drugs, afros, violence, breasts, corrupt politicians, mean white people, ugly gangsters and Coffy the Triumphant, Murderous, Avenging Nurse. Pam’s sis is hooked on smack (what we called heroin then) and, unable to trust anyone, Pam wages a one-woman war on dope pushers. As of 1973, there had been no Black Female Action Hero Movie Stars; Ms. Grier blows this nonsense clean away. Coffy is violently anti-drug — not a popular message in those fun Nixonian times. We encourage you to do what it takes to boogie on down for this big-screen triumph, as we will be in back getting our swerve on. No nurse on duty, so keep it together. If you have never seen a blaxploitation movie, shame on you. Tarantino would agree this one is unmissable. Never mind Citizen KaneCoffy is a great American Film.” DJ Adam Papagan (The Del Talk Show) will be here to spin tunes before the show!
Dir. Jack Hill, 1973, 35mm, 91 min.

Q: Does Greg talk over the movies, like the Benson Interruption?
A: No. It is a recording of his podcast, followed by a screening of the film.
