Phil Lord in person! Our good Cinefamily friends Chris Miller and Phil Lord (co-directors of The Lego Movie, 21 and 22 Jump Street, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs) are back with yet another crazy, juicy, outside-the-box project: Fox’s new post-apocalypse comedy The Last Man On Earth, created by and starring Will Forte. The year: 2022. After a deadly virus has swept the planet, only one man is left alive: an average guy (Forte) who loved his family and hated his job. Now, in his RV, Phil roams the country looking for other survivors. He travels every city, town and outpost in North America — and has found no one. As he returns to his hometown of Tucson, Phil painfully realizes he’s almost certainly the last living being. All he wants is for someone — anyone — to find him in Tucson. Preferably a woman. Be careful what you wish for, Phil…

When we asked Phil Lord if he wanted to add anything to the description of the show, he sent us back this lone cryptic sentence: “Definitely mention that it stars mutant dog people.” We’ll take that as a very good sign.
