Circle Jerks: My Career As A Jerk (director in person!, 10:30pm)

The incredible true story of the legendary Los Angeles punk godfathers, helmed by one of the original punk scene’s most long-standing filmmakers! From its inception, the Circle Jerks were gloriously rooted in snarling controversy. Formed by ex-members of Black Flag and Red Cross (now Redd Kross) in late ‘79, the band quickly encapsulated for the entire world the image, sound and energy of California hardcore — and continues to do so today. Filmmaker Dave Markey (1991: The Year Punk Broke, The Slog Movie) mixes in-depth interviews, rare live footage and historical perspective to illustrate the story of one of the most influential bands in the American underground. Traversing some 30 years of history, My Career As A Jerk shares personal stories from such Jerks as Keith Morris, Greg Hetson, Lucky Lehrer, Earl Liberty & Zander Schloss, and includes tons of shredding live performance (including footage Markey personally shot in the early ‘80s.) Director Dave Markey will be here to introduce the film!
Dir. Dave Markey, 2012, HD presentation, 96 min.
