Lightstorm LP Release Party featuring Boardinghouse

Co-presented by Drag City, Cinespia, and Yoga Records

“This horror movie was one of the first shot-on-video features, and even had a brief theatrical run. A more memorably (and enjoyably) awful film would be hard to find. “Hank Adly” (John Wintergate) is the unfortunate soul to own the cursed Hoffman house. He places an ad in the paper for “girls, girls, girls” to share the bachelor pad. The place is soon full of women and bizarre, laughable gory deaths occur (preceded by a stupid warning signal known as Horrorvision) There’s also a ‘nam vet gardener, some unbelievable hallucinations, an irritating computer read out telling us what’s going on ….and more. Did I mention that Adly (who has blow dried hair and leopard underpants) is also telekinetic… You have been warned.” — Spinegrinder Video Guide

This inexplicable cult hit also features Boardinghouse filmmakers John and Kalassu’s surprisingly great Sai Baba-inspired / sex rock band Lightstorm (performing as 33 1/3) and this screening celebrates the new release of Lightstorm’s greatest hits collection Creation, out on vinyl this month from Yoga Records & Drag City. This screening also features deranged music videos from Lightstorm the premiere screening of the band’s newest video summarizing their career. Yoga Records founder Douglas Mcgowan appears in person with John and Kalassu’s daughter Shanti Wintergate to take us on a tour through one of the weirder glam psych bands the world has ever known! Party on the patio after the show with drinks and Lightstorm LPs for sale for the first time.

Dir John Wintergate, 1982, 35mm, 98 min.
