ALL OF THEM WITCHES: Practical Magic + ‘90s Dress Up Party!

DJ set by Arjuna Genome

It’s the late ‘90s. Lilith Fair rules the airwaves, midriffs are exposed, and Griffin Dunne is directing the witch movie you didn’t know you needed. In a small town, idyllic save for the crowds of children chanting “witch, witch, you’re a bitch” at the leading ladies, a family of witches cursed in love come together to banish a boyfriend who just won’t take the hint. Sisters played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman get themselves into a big enough mess with a certain Belladonna that they have to call upon their meddling aunts (Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest) for help, with their own young daughters (also witches) along for the ride. They cast spells, eat ice cream for breakfast, and drink margaritas at midnight in this indulgent witch-flick rom-com mash up. We’ll watch the film and then party on our patio, witchy ‘90s Nicole Kidman style (meaning: wear a choker).

Dir. Griffin Dunne, 1998, 35mm, 104 min.
