5TH INT'L WAYNE FEDERMAN FILM FEST: Patton Oswalt presents a Walter Matthau double feature - The Bad News Bears and The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three

Patton Oswalt, renowned cinefile, comedian, author, actor, writer, and purveyor of legendary intros (including ones for Eraserhead and Microwave Massacre), brings genuine passion to hosting screenings. This time around Oswalt showcases Walter Matthau, with not one, but two films. This one-two punch of Matthau-madness showcases two of his greatest performances — in Bad News Bears and The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three. At his best as a grumbling, disgruntled, curmudgeon, Matthau first takes the reigns as the greatest drunken baseball coach of all time, in a tender and sincere performance. Then, catch him as an NYC Transit Authority cop oddly lightheartedly dealing with a hostage situation in the subway (all set to an incredibly catchy and toe-tapping theme song).

Patton says: “come for the jowls. stay for the paunch! The only man we need is saving kids and the city of New York for one night only!”
