MEMBERSHIP & DONATIONS:

Q: I want to see every show at the Cinefamily for FREE. Could this dream possibly be a reality?

A: Incredibly, yes! What you need is a Cinefamily membership. Your donation not only allows the Cinefamily to grow and improve, but also enables you to watch every film, attend every potluck/BBQ/Q&A/live zebra encounter -- and even gains you entry into exclusive Members-Only screenings and events, all for FREE.

A donation for membership can be made at the box office (during box office hours), or online. The box office is open one hour before the first show, and closes 30 minutes after the start of the last show. Your card can be made while you wait -- or, for online donations, your card will be ready and waiting at our box office within one business day.

I just donated for a membership. How do I get my membership card?

A: First off, a great many thanks. If you acquired your membership online, your new card will be available for pickup at the box office during theater hours (one hour before first show, until 30 minutes after the start of the last show) within one business day of your donation. If you need to pick up your card on the same day as you made your donation, please bring your receipt (printed, or on your smartphone) during box office hours, and we'll make your card while you wait.

If you donate for a membership at the theater itself (while the box office is open), your card will be ready for pickup in 20 minutes or less, depending on how busy we are at the box office. Please note: we're always happy to discuss our membership options with you in person, but the best time to donate for one while at the theater is while a show is in progress.

Your membership card will not be mailed.

Q: I would like to donate a membership for a friend. How can I make sure they get their card?

A: In our new membership section, you can select the level you desire. In the 'Recipient' name box, enter the friend/loved one/co-worker/fellow cinephile's name for whom you wish to make your donation. Upon completing your transaction, a card will be made in the recipient's name, and will be ready at our box office for either yourself or your giftee to pick-up within one business day.

Membership cards will not be mailed. A card can also be made while you wait, usually in 20 minutes or less, during regular box office hours. The box office is open 1 hour before the first show, and closes 30 minutes after the start of the last show.

Q: I have received my membership card/code. How do I use it to reserve a free ticket for an upcoming show?

A: Your unique coupon code is found on the back of your membership card. Your code can be used once per show*, either at the box office OR online, for as many shows as you like, for the duration of your membership.

The following graphic explains the simple process of reserving tickets with your membership code:

*unless otherwise specified.

Q: What's the deal with this online ticket service fee?

A: Online ticket service fees are sadly unavoidable, and are commonplace on all ticketing websites. If you'd like to avoid this third-party fee, tickets can be picked up in advance at the theater during box office hours. The box office is open 1 hour before the first show and closes 30 minutes after the start of the last show.

NOTE: Box office staff can only print tickets for future events when there is no ticket line for the current show.

Q: My membership card isn't giving me my free ticket discount. What do I do?

A: Email us at donate@cinefamily.org, or call us at (323) 655-2510 during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 11am-6pm) Be sure to provide your full name, method of payment and membership card number.

Q: I'd rather not donate for a membership online. Are there any other options?

A: Absolutely. You can donate for a membership at the theater during regular box office hours. The box office is open 1 hour before the first show, and closes 30 minutes after the start of the last show. To ensure your membership is ready in the most timely manner, we recommend arriving during a screening, so our box office staff can give you their undivided attention.

Q: I received an alert about my Paypal donation pledge. My credit card information may have changed. How do I make sure my membership continues smoothly?

A: When Paypal payments stop. they cannot be edited or restarted. The easiest way to lift the hold on your membership, and keep your pledge active, is to sign up for a "new" membership through the Cinefamily website, re-entering your credit card information in Paypal. Make sure that your credit card number will remain valid for the full term of the pledge.

You can keep your existing membership cards, etc. When we see new payments coming in, we'll update your membership card to reflect a new expiration date.

GENERAL:

Q: When is The Cinefamily open?

A: Our regular office business hours are Monday-Friday, 11am-6pm. Our box office opens 1 hour before the day's first showtime. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. The box office closes 30 minutes after the start of the last showtime. For a list of everything playing both today and in the future, our calendar is found on our homepage.

Q: Do you still show silent movies at the Silent Movie Theatre?

A: The Cinefamily has inhabited the historic Silent Movie Theater since late 2007. We normally show silent films once a month, usually every first Saturday. Check out The Silent Treatment for our regular silent film schedule.

Q: The screening of a lifetime is SOLD OUT! Is there any hope for me??

A: Fear not, there is still hope. Though a screening may be sold out officially, there are times when not every will call ticket is picked up by the show's ticketholders. For all sold-out shows, we have a "standby" line, for those who did not buy tickets in time. At showtime, we will release any seats that are still available to the standby line for purchase. We are not always able to let in everyone on standby, so be sure to arrive early if you really want to get in. If you're ever concerned about a show selling out, be sure to purchase your tickets in advance online.

I (or someone I know) made a movie. Would you like to watch/potentially screen it?

A: Our programmers are always accepting and watching screeners for new films, and you are welcome to submit your own. Keep in mind, our dockets are always very full, most often with films we're actively researching for the multiple series in our curated programming. We cannot guarantee that Cinefamily's programming staff can view your film within any specific timeframe. But, we do love discovering new work, so feel free to send screener materials to:
